MAYOR INTERVIEWED BY CHINA’S LARGEST NEWSPAPER
DURING LIVE WEB CAST

MISSISSAUGA, March 30, 2007 – While leading a business mission to China, along with the Mississauga Board of Trade and the Mississauga Board of Chinese Professionals and Businesses, Mayor Hazel McCallion is to be interviewed during a live web cast of the People’s Daily Online. This media outlet also publishes China’s largest newspaper with a circulation of 3 million.

“The delegates of the Team Mississauga – Business Mission to China 2007, are pleased to be able to meet with senior business, government and academic officials in China to create new opportunities for the mutual benefit of both parties,” said McCallion.

This business mission endeavours to answer the call by our Mississauga business community to develop opportunities and explore partnerships to advance business ties with China. This mission is a partnership of the Mississauga Board of Chinese Professionals and Businesses (CPB) and the Mississauga Board of Trade (MBOT) with the support of the City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Office.

“We want to provide Mississauga companies with important trade and industry information direct from key business contacts,” stated McCallion. “We know that Mississauga is an ideal location for investment from China. As a city, we have much to offer Chinese companies as a gateway to the North American market through our well-educated, productive workforce with innovative knowledge, a multi-cultural population and an outstanding quality of life.”

The business mission will hold meetings with senior Chinese leaders in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Nanjing, Shanghai, and Xi'an. The live web cast is scheduled to take place on Mon. April 3, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. (EST) on the People’s Daily Online - http://english.people.com.cn
